Graduation Cap
Happy Graduation! Make these cupcakes in your school colors for your graduation celebrations.
What you need:
Reynolds® Baking Cups (Silver Foil)
1 package (18.25 ounces) chocolate cake mix
1 container (16 oz.) ready-to-spread white frosting
School color food coloring
Black fondant
24 graham cracker squares
School color fondant
White dot sprinkles
24 black gumdrops
White fondant
School color decorator icing
Recommended: decorating tip #1, star tip
Instructions:
PREHEAT oven to 350°F.
PLACE Reynolds Baking Cups in muffin pans; set aside.
PREPARE cake mix following package directions for 24 cupcakes. Spoon batter into baking cups.
BAKE following package directions (17 to 23 minutes). Cool.
TINT frosting using food coloring to match school colors. Pipe frosting on top of each cupcake with a star decorating tip.
MAKE AND ASSEMBLE the graduation cap
- For mortarboard: Roll out black fondant. Cover graham cracker square with fondant.
- For tassel: Roll out school color fondant. Cut long thin triangle shapes for tassel.
- Moisten center of black fondant with water; Attach tassel and place a white dot sprinkle on the center point.
- Use decorating tip #1 and school color icing to outline the tassel.
- For skull-cap: Place gumdrops on cupcakes for bottom of cap.
LEAN mortarboard next to gumdrop skull-cap on top of each cupcake.
MAKE AND ASSEMBLE the diplomas
- Roll out white fondant and cut into 1" x 1 1/2" strips.
- Wrap a strip around skewer to form diploma and pull skewer out.
- Use decorating tip #1 to make a ribbon tie on the diploma
PLACE a diploma next to the cap on each cupcake.
